At the QMU, we are proud to continue the long standing tradition as the entertainment capital of Glasgow University. On any given week you can find live music events by some of the UK’s finest acts such as The Foals, Tegan and Sara, The Fratellis and many many more.
We also play host to a number of events ran by the Social committee that include The Big Wednesday Quiz, Friday Face-Off plus much much more.

Events/ Club nights
Mondays
RAW is the QM’s live music event. Held fortnightly on Mondays, RAW showcases the best in unsigned and independent music in Scotland. For more information, click here.
We also run two extremely successful club nights every week throughout the year catering for wide and varied musical tastes.
Tuesdays

Hosted by XFM’s resident Rock/Metal DJ, Martin Bate, Revolution continues to be the club night of choice for those who like their music just a little bit stronger. A wide variety of tunes from bands like Metallica, Jimmy Eat World, At The Drive In, Iron Maiden plus much much more. Come down, request a song and join the dark side.
Entry: £2 members/ £3 non-members. Note: Non-students welcome without sign in.
Fridays

Every Friday night without fail, come join DJ Toast as he spins the virtual wheels with everything ranging from the latest Indie and Chart hits to more obscure tracks like the Ghostbusters theme tune and maybe even a Gloria Gaynor number thrown in for good measure.
Entry: £2 members/ £3 non-members. Note: Students from other UK Universities are welcome without being signed in. All others must be show valid form of ID and be accompanied by a University student. Maximum sign-in per person: 4

The Blackout formed in 2003 in South Wales and drawing influences from across the board, they combine guitars, drums, screaming and melodic vocals. The band has played shows in and around the UK with the likes of Lostprophets, Funeral for a Friend, Fightstar, Avenged Sevenfold, Reuben, Fairvail (now Cue To Eclipse), The Used, Dredg, 18 Visions, Thrice and Hidden in Plain View as well as opening up ‘Give It a Name Festival’ in April 2006. They played on the main stage at The Full Ponty 2007 with the likes of Lostprophets, Reel Big Fish and The Automatic They were also nominated at the 2006 Kerrang! Awards for Best British Newcomer but lost out to Bring Me the Horizon. |

The band’s first line-up consisted of Blaine on drums, William on guitar and Henry (Blaine’s father) on bass. Some years later, Henry became a second guitarist in the band and they were joined by Kai on bass, as well as Tamara on keyboards. The band at this time recorded an eponymous EP with Aswad producer Nick Sykes. Blaine (whose voice had yet to break) took lead vocals. Tamara left the band, and Blaine switched from drums to keyboards. The band had a brief stint with a friend of Will (known only as Max) on drums, but he was unreliable and for a time a drum machine was used. The band advertised on internet message boards for a drummer, and found Kapil. |
