MONDAY 15th September sees the start of Freshers’ Week proper, and there really is only one way to kick it all off - and that is with a bang! Here’s how we at the QMU interpret “bang” …

The Subways have quickly established themselves as one of Britain’s most undeniably “turn that up” bands. Playing live at the QMU, they will blow your brains clear through the back of your skull and leave your body flopping around like a helpless rag doll being shaken by a very petulant child who’s forgotten to take their Ritalin.
Having just played at T in the Park, Oxegen, Glastonbury and Reading & Leads for the 4th year running, they are, without a doubt, one of the biggest bands of the summer.
Described by the NME as, “a shot of endorphins into the arm of indie rock”, The Subways will hit all the right spots and be exactly what you need to jump start Freshers’ Week in style.
Doors open 7pm.
And as if that was just not enough for one night … from 11pm we have:

The UK’s first super club presents a tour bringing the biggest anthems from the last two decades to the Queen Margaret Union.
The brand new Ministry of Sound Anthems Tour 2008 will transform the QMU with dazzling club décor and exclusive visuals. Add that to a DJ set covering the most influential moments in dance music from 1991 – 2008 and prepare yourself for a club night that epitomises the voice and spirit of an underground movement that grew to become a phenomena, and is now a way of life for clubbers across the globe.
Having sold millions of CD’s Worldwide, along with its own T.V., Radio shows, and Nightclubs, the Ministry of Sound is undoubtedly the biggest Global Dance brand and name on the clubbing scene.
11pm-3am
Here’s a taste of what you can expect …
