Membership

Becoming a member of the Queen Margaret Union is free, and can be done any time during the day after Freshers' Week.

Should you wish to spend your first graduate salary, or the last of your student loan (admittedly less likely) on something worthwhile, life membership is just £15.

We've tried to summarise everything you get from being a QM member below.

Entry - As a members club, to enter the QMU after 6pm, you must be either (a) a Glasgow University Student who is a member of either the QMU or GU (and has their card on them!) (b) a member of another university (ANY university) or (c) Signed-in at the door by either a member of the QMU/GU or a member of another university. So obviously - if you're a Glasgow University student, it makes sense to become a member of the QMU or GU becasue you can get in, without having to find a mate who is a member to sign you in....but also it makes sense to become of member of the QMU specifically because....

Clubnights - Membership gets you cheaper entry to all our crackin' clubnights throughout the year. Cheesy Pop is only £3 for members after 10pm (£4 for non-members)!

Discounts - While all students get a 10% discount at the QMU Shop - QMU Members get a massive 15% discount.

Committees - You can attend the four regular committees that organise activities and events in Qudos and the bars, make qmunicate and raise cash for good causes, gaining yourself some valuable volunteering points along the way.

Elections - Being a member of the Union also entitles you to vote in QM elections, attend the super-important and surprisingly fun Annual General Meeting and even run for office yourself. As a voting member you get a direct say in how the QM is run.

Clubs & Societies - Membership also gives you the option to affiliate your club or society to the Queen Margaret Union, where we can provide free room hire for any of our four meetings rooms, advice and assistance with events and help with publicity.

Membership of the QM is membership of a huge, daft, diverse, hard-working community where anyone is welcome. It's singing the last chorus of the last song at Cheesy Pop long after the bar has closed.
