Every semester, the Campaigns & Charities committee nominate a charity to which all of the QM's fundraising efforts for that term are donated. This semester, the QM will be raising money for WestGAP:

WestGAP is an anti-poverty community group run by and for people in the West of Glasgow who have first hand experience of living in poverty. They are totally independent, are not funded by government, and are not part of any political party or organisation.
WestGAP has been in existence for over 12 years and in that time has helped hundreds of people within the community. They run a free, independent and confidential advice service covering both Money Advice and Welfare Rights (e.g. Disability Living Allowance, Tax Credits, Housing Benefit & Council Tax), as well as advice on housing issues, homelessness, and a whole range of other matters. WestGAP believe firmly in ensuring that anyone who walks into their office receives the very best service that the organisation can provide and make a point of ‘going the extra mile’ for all who require their help.
Additionally, they play a key role in wider community development work and recently were in partnership with Glasgow University and Oxfam for Dr. Kirsteen Paton’s research into poverty within the area.
Every penny raised for WestGAP will go directly into the running of the organisation and ensure that they can still provide their desperately needed service in the community.
WestGAP is a Recognised Scottish Charity (No. SC 030367).
