Clubs and societies

Clubs and Societies are hugely important to the Queen Margaret Union and we play host to meetings, rehearsals, and events by countless of them in any given week adding to the vibrancy and buzz of our building. You, as a University of Glasgow student, have the chance to come along to the QM and try them all out. Remember, there’s always the bar downstairs if you need to escape - or get some Dutch courage beforehand! Hopefully, though, joining a club will mean you’ll have even more people to talk to each week at Cheesy Pop.

In the current climate, getting involved in University life above and beyond your degree is essential - the SRC say:

“You are at University to get a degree, but that shouldn’t be the only thing you take away from Glasgow when you graduate. Both Volunteering and Clubs and Societies provide an excellent way to meet new people, try some new experiences, look great on your CV and are also lots of fun!

Don’t be afraid to get involved! Every year hundreds of students join a club, society for the first time – so you will not be alone! It is up to you how much time you want to devote to volunteering or clubs and societies – you have control and it doesn’t have to eat in to your study time.”

Do you run a Club or Society? Affiliate to the QM!

Many Clubs and Societies affiliate to the Union to take advantage of free room hire, event support and advice, or simply because the Union is a great place to meet.

* To affiliate your Club or Society with us, you’ll need to download an affiliation form.
* To book a room for a place to meet, you can either make a block booking, or a single booking.
* Remember you need to conform to our rules and regulations for Clubs and Societies.
