The Support and Services Committee requires as many creative, sharp and fun people as possible to continue to help shape it for the coming year. The committee’s job is to come up with brilliant ideas about future endeavours the QMU can put into action to help its members in one way or another. This could invove campaigns, a way of helping a club or society to run an event or raise money or just fixing those niggly things about the QM. We also need help to run C-Card, our free confidential condom (and other goodies such as lube or dams) distribution service. You can help us give these out as well as come and get some yourself.
We will also be having fun days that you could help improve – one of the fun days will involve standing in reception and offering hugs to people! We’re all about the love at Support and Services. The annual Childrens Christmas Party comes under the remit of this committee as well. This means we get to dress someone as Santa (oh come on, you must already have known) who comes along and gives out presents to the kids of our members or University staff. We normally have food and bouncy castles for the children to ensure they have a lot of fun, but not enough fun to regurgitate food on the bouncy castles. It’s a tricky balance.
I’m Andrew Landels, and I’m the Support and Services convenor. Keep an eye out for me in the building, and if any of this sounds like your thing, come and have a chat with me, or come to the committee at 5pm on Mondays in the boardroom. Support and Services needs you!
If you would like to get involved without coming to a meeting then you can access the committee forums and post your ideas and opinions.
